Dark navy knickers
Bright white shirt
White painted pumps
Always showed the dirt.
On the wall bars
Jumping onto the horse
Long distance running
All track work off course.
Tennis and netball,
Never made the team
Always teachers pet
That were living the dream.
But the worse thing was
The dreaded shower
Only in a minute
Seemed like an hour.
So thank heaven’s
For the excuse me note
‘Please excuse her
She’s not well’, I wrote!
