Paw Prints On My Heart

It is exactly a year today that I lost my beautiful Miniature Schnauzer, Ruby and it still feels like yesterday.

I wrote this poem to honour her memory and to express my love for her.  Losing a pet is such a hard journey but having them in our lives brings so much joy ❤️

Paw Prints on My Heart

When you went over the rainbow bridge
You broke my heart in two
But you didn’t go there on your own
You took a piece of me with you

I think about you all the time
I often say your name
You left your paw print on my heart
Life will never be the same

I know you’re never far away
I can feel you close to me
As I close my eyes and think a while
It’s your face I long to see

Early in the morning
When the world is still asleep
I sense you right beside me
And hear the patter of your feet

I thank you for the memories
And all the special years we shared
I hope I made life happy for you
And you know how much I cared
