Pain beneath the clouds
This very poignant poem is written by Martin Silvester … it will make you think …
Pain beneath the clouds
If I could just, sit on the moon,
And gaze down at the earth.
With ocean blues and fleecy clouds,
Wrapped around its girth.
A lovely decoration hung,
On the Christmas tree of space.
From far away, so beautiful,
Scattered land,upon its face.
And as I sit there on the moon,
Alone…away from crowds.
I’d think of all the suffering,
And pain beneath the clouds.
We didn’t mean to have the wars,
We didn’t want to cry.
Have we evolved too quickly,
Where does our future lie?
Has mankind fast forwarded,
At a gallop, not a trot.
Put too much emphasis on wanting,
Things that others, have all got.
If only we could be content,
And live our lives in peace.
Remember…we didn’t buy the world,
It’s only ours on lease.
And so I’d sit there on the moon,
With tears upon my cheek.
Gazing down across the miles,
While my mind plays hide and seek.
What is it, that I’m looking for,
To give me peace of mind.
A future full of promise,
Is what I’d like to find.
So I’d sit and look around me,
Try to see beyond the stars.
There must be something more important,
Than money, oil and cars.
There’s love and understanding,
Being content with how we live.
Not spending our life just taking,
And forgetting how to give.
The problems that all nations face
As they live their daily lives.
Could be sorted out with diplomacy,
Not guns and wars and knives.
To get problems in perspective,
You need to see them from all sides.
Stand too close, and you’ll never see,
Where the problems answer hides.
Perhaps all the leaders in the world,
And this ought to be quite soon.
Might find some answers to the mess we’re in,
If they looked at the world, from the moon.
