Out of the Running

Out of the Running

Now I am old
I am out in the cold
but glad to be free
of the fuss, and to be
out of the running
and just to be me.

When I was young
I was part of the throng
who tried to fit in,
to be cool, to be thin!
What a blessed relief
not to bother at all.
To be out of the running.
Not go to the Ball.
