Now is the time

Jan Millward has written a very fitting poem on this extremely sad day, which has left many of us lost for words.

Now is the time

Another headline of despair,
another cry of it’s not fair.
A television full of dying,
and desperate families searching, crying.

Another city takes a blast,
the evil force is spreading fast.
And panic grips the empty streets,
afraid of what they next might meet.

A candle vigil in a park,
wavering flames in spreading dark.
A heart and flag on every page,
and papers full of our outrage.

And every time it’s just the same,
as we search out the ones to blame.
We judge our neighbours for their belief,
with anger burning through our grief.

But now it is the time to stand,
arm in arm and hand in hand.
And be the best that we can be
and only then will we be free.
