Now I Kneel
Now I Kneel
Now, I kneel and now I weep,
Now I bow in pride,
A pride that all my life I keep,
Hidden deep inside.
A pride I was afraid to show,
While others roared aloud,
I stood beyond their bravado,
Silently, but proud.
My pride was for Her Majesty,
Her Standard stood for me,
My back stood straight as history,
Spoke knowingly, to me.
It told me of the crown you wore,
Of your service I had seen,
It reminded me of that oath you swore,
When you became my Queen.
And now I see that Standard low,
As my nation cries aloud,
My own tears fall but my heart’s aglow,
I am humbled, but so proud.
Now I kneel and now I weep,
Now I bow in pride,
A pride that all my life I keep,
Hidden deep inside.
‘God bless the Queen, thank you for your service to us’.
