New Years Eve
It’s New Years Eve or Old Years Night some would rather say
O’er in bonnie Scotland it’s known as Hogmanay
A time to bring the new year in and cast the old away
Toast each other and forgive all slants in honour of the day
Celebrate with kith and kin don your gay apparel
Sing Auld Lange Syne together forgetting any quarrel
Remembering all our ain folk who have gone before
Wishing they could once again come calling at our door
As midnight chimes the first footer must be a dark haired male
To bring good luck into the house according to the tale
Enjoy the celebrations have a dance or sing
Look forward to the new year and all that it may bring
Tradition binds us together no matter where we are
Makes the miles between us not to seem so far
