Never forgotten 9/11 –  Thousands of people

Never forgotten 9/11 –  Thousands of people

Thousands of people went quiet to bed,
To seek rest at the end of the day,
Not knowing that morning what bitterness bred,
And their lives would be taken away.

Thousands of people in towers did strive,
And a ‘Pentagon’ held them as well,
But thousands of people did not stay alive,
As the devil among them did dwell.

Millions of souls mourning hard in their heart,
Tears falling strongly each day,
For the thousands of people, who went quiet to bed,
But their lives would be taken away.

Twin lights now shine to the heavens above,
Straight like an arrow they beam,
Sending thousands of people our thoughts and our love,
To soar in the searchlights high gleam.

For thousands of people who dwelt in that land,
The home of the free and the brave,
Who died on that day by the assassin’s dark hand,
With no mark, and no stone, and no grave.

For millions of souls mourning hard in their heart,
In a World of compassion and care,
Don’t let this dark force ever push us apart,
Hold strong to the freedom we share.

R.I.P. the lost souls, may your light, shine forever.
Mick.

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
