My U.F.O.’s

My  U.F.O’s

It’s March and I’m spring cleaning
Alas not early…..late
As I didn’t  do it last year
My wardrobes in a state

I did know that the top shelf
Was jam-packed with U.F.O’s
As I had an hour to spare
Thought I would peruse those

First there was the knitting
It should have been a scarf
Got  fed up quite quickly
Before I’d done a half

Then to make a nightie
Therapeutic when you sew
Asked if the theory worked for me
I must admit it’s no

Attempt to do a sculpture
My image chipped in plaster
Result was also thrown on shelf
Another huge disaster

As I’d signed up for classes
And hate to waste my money
Gave the potters wheel a whirl
Made a dish to hold my honey

This was so deformed
That no self-respecting bee
Would want her hard work displayed
In a bowl, that’s thrown by me

I won’t bore you with more details
Hadn’t realised I’d tried
And failed at so many things
Was a huge blow to my pride

So I obtained a plastic bag
To conceal my unsuccessful past
After sitting there for many years
I set them free at last

By then I was dishevelled
Dust upon my nose
But very pleased with empty shelf
And lack of U.F.O’s.

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
