My strength

 My strength

Don’t ever close the door and think I’m not here any more,
Do not shut me away in your mind,
I am with you every day, I have never gone away,
I leave little signs for you to find.

That feather you saw, that fluttered to the floor,
The butterfly landing nearby,
The song that you heard, from a non-existent bird,
And the breath of a whispered sigh.

I have loved you so dear, and my presence is near,
And I stand in contentment with you,
Let my strength be your guide, I have never left your side,
I am with you, in all that you do!

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
