My greatest wish to you

My greatest wish to you

I wish you all that you hope for, to fill your heart’s desire,
To bring your life contentment, to all that you aspire,
I wish you peace and happiness, placidity of mind,
And all the friendships waiting, each one for you to find.

I wish you the ability, to contemplate your worth,
To see the love around you, from others on this earth,
I wish to you a trust enough, to open your arms wide,
And welcome others to you, who are standing yet outside.

I wish you the ambition, to dry your weeping tears,
To lift your head and hold it proud, beyond these saddened years,
I wish to you a pride within, a shining inner glow,
So all can see your own true worth, and all around will know.

I wish to you a life to live, of memory and mirth,
With an understanding nature, that was gifted us by birth,
I wish to you a multitude, of all these things above,
But the greatest of these wishes all, I wish you the gift of love

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
