My First Valentine
My First Valentine
I met you many years ago,
And fell in love with you.
I thought about you day and night,
And I know you loved me too.
I knew you were not mine to have,
That you had someone else’s heart.
So I’d dream of how it could be,
And that we’d never be apart.
In my dreams, I dreamed of all the things,
That you and I could do.
And when awake I’d seek you out,
All alone…just me and you.
I felt your breath upon my face,
I looked deep into your eyes.
No room..in your sweet lovely heart,
For subterfuge or lies.
You were always there when I needed you
You’d see my outstretched arms.
So beautiful..so patient,
I was a captive to your charms.
I loved the dreamy look you had,
When I’d reach out to pull you near.
And I loved the way you’d look at me,
Eyes saying…glad you’re here.
I’d lay awake and think of you,
I had your photo by my bed.
You were my life..my everything,
No matter..what might lie ahead.
But life moves on, and so did we,
I know we didn’t want to part.
But I like to think that you and I,
Had a place in each other’s heart.
I still think of you..every single day,
Even though you were never mine.
And I’ll never forget..that my first true love,
Was a horse called…Valentine.
