My field of Delights
My Field of Delights
Wandering down the Country Lane,
In Spring Summer and Winter too,
Leads me to my favourite walk,
I like to go there the whole year through,
It is a lovely field with a stream gently running through,
With bowing willow trees too,
Winter frosts bring a delightful sight,
Jack Frost works busily on the field at night.
The Spring brings soft green buds, peeping through.
Busy birds twittering with delight, new nests will soon be in sight.
A real treasure, one day I did unfold, a beautiful family of swans,
The signets only a couple of days old.
The hay grows high and bailing time comes, this is when the rabbits run.
Autumn comes leaves turn golden, twisting and falling through the sky,
Then like a yachting mass dream, in the stream they sail by.
It is only a field, but nature is all there,
Readily her gifts to share.
