My Birdbath Delights
Just a little poem about the pleasure the birds in my garden give me. They are an absolute joy to watch. They get so much pleasure from the simplest of things.
My Birdbath Delights
I cleaned the birdbath out today
So my feathered friends could come and play
They knew at once the job was done
So down they flew to have some fun
The joy it gave was plain to see
Like a pool visit for me would be
Such etiquette, a treat to see
As each one waited patiently
The pigeons, they had such a blast
They drained the water really fast
With well soaked feathers now in sight
They preened themselves from left to right
The viewing gallery was oh so tense
Birds next in line sat on the fence
All queued up in a nice, neat line
So eagerly waiting for their time
The little birds, happier to share
Stood around the edge of the waters glare
Dipping their bills, a beautiful sight
The water glistening gleefully in the sunlight
Now refreshed, so off they flew
To look for food in pastures new
They’ll return again, of that I’m sure
To enjoy my birdbath, as before
