Mummy’s Little Darlings
Just when I thought my nest was empty, it’s filled up again!
Mummy’s Little Darlings
This lock-down is exhausting
Yes I know I shouldn’t moan,
But my three kids are all grown up
And now they’ve all come home
Of course, I do appreciate
That they’re well and safe with us
But all they seem to say to me is
Mum stop making a fuss!
They all say that they’re working hard
But blimey it’s tough for me
All the extra washing and stuff,
Then hey! “What are we having for tea?”
I’ve scrubbed and scrubbed the bathroom
Disinfected the sinks and loo
My kitchen was spotless when I went upstairs
And now that’s messed up too
I think I must have been a useless mum
Having not taught them well before
As they leave their clothes all over the place
And wet towels dumped on the floor.
Classic FM’s keeps getting switched off
No Chopin or Mozart for me
Yet I have to suffer their headphone racket
That’s not fair, wouldn’t you agree?
Now I don’t want to cause any arguments here
So in the scheme of things I’d say, all’s fine
But when that clock strikes 6pm
How I welcome a glass of wine!
I love my grown-up darlings
Unconditionally, that be true
And though I just love having them home
T’was so easy when there were only two….
