Morning fog
Morning Fog
I heard the alarm this morning,
It came as a big surprise,
I had trouble waking,
I couldn’t open my eyes.
I didn’t want to get up,
I didn’t want to wake,
I had to drag my body out the bed,
For my mortgage sake.
I stood in the bathroom,
In only pants and socks,
The creature looking back from the mirror,
Gave me a bit of a shock.
I wet my hair to tame it,
I washed my tired face,
I realised how long I’d been,
And had to pick up the pace.
Rushed into the bedroom,
Through on all my clothes,
Ran down the stairs,
And proceeded to stub my toes.
Ate a hasty breakfast,
Drank a cup of tea,
Looked at the clock,
I was as late as I could be.
I burst out of the door,
I was running down the street,
Ready to shout get out the way,
To anyone I meet.
I rushed on to work,
I leapt over the gate,
It turned out I was a day early,
Instead of being too late.
