Monday Blues
Monday Blues
Two up, two down
A fireside chair
A roaring fire
Everyone’s there.
No fitted sink
Just a single cold tap
A bowl underneath
Fancy, that.
Tea nearly ready
Lobby tonight
Leftovers from Sunday
It’s only right.
Then my mum told me
Your job will be
Go to the laundarett
Just before tea.
The next monday came
I ran home from school
Picked up the bag
Felt such a fool.
Up the street
Turned to my right
A red double decker
Was just in my sight.
A bus full of boys
Shouting and laughing
My face turned scarlet
As the bus was passing.
Loaded the washer
The coins in the slot
There were so many bubbles
The waters too hot.
Sit and wait
On an orange and black chair
Can’t help but look
Tried not to stare.
In came a teacher
The lady from next door
A postman, the coal man
I relax a little more.
After tea I did the ironing
Yes I watched the telly too
Oh how I hated Monday’s
Well tell me, wouldn’t you?
