Making Friends

Making Friends

There was a hunger deep within her soul
As she gazed into his eyes
Trust was still within her grasp
Though she’d know  hurt and been told lies

She had been treated badly,
Please love me she’d implore
Although she never said a word,
Her actions told much more

She knew he could be her saviour
Soon as he came in the room
Providing just a glimmer,
Of hope to light the gloom

As his hands caressed her body
What ecstasy she felt
Anxieties just flew away
Her spine began to melt

But then he turned his back
As he quickly walked away
Tears formed in her brown eyes
Devastated he didn’t stay

Then all at once it happened
She didn’t have to plead
There he was and carrying
A collar and a lead

He told her he would feed her
Through the countryside they’d roam
Oh joy of joy, what great delight
To be chosen from dogs home.

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
