A Lounge Window World
A Lounge Window World
Sitting at my window, feeling snug and warm,
I watch feathered battles on my frosted lawn,
Smart iridescent Starlings strut urgently about,
Dominating pickings as they screech and shout.
A Robin flits silently from the cover he had found,
Searching for tiny morsels peeping from the ground,
Sooty suited Blackbirds, glistened, each rather grand,
Chasing most other birds from their chosen land.
I see a stealthy cat stalk past my window pane,
Hunting foolish birds that stop for one more grain,
Those Doves “Coo” loudly, watch down from a tree,
Cautious before landing, to peck grains for their tea.
The rain dappled picture from my window pane,
Shows yellow Daffodils, now they’re back again,
They dance a gusty rhythm in the wind all about,
Yellow trumpets glow brightly when the Sun pops out.
