Lost Love

Lost love

Maybe we’ll see each other once in a while
Not like before I know
I’ll pretend, to give some succour
To a heart that still holds you so

Perhaps a smile for me to green my heart
I’ll catch it before it leaves your face
Then I’ll spend it slowly, little by little
To dilute the pain I cannot erase

I’d know your body five minutes away
As any man would, who has been as one
with you, in a fingertip moment.
A minute with you, and I am undone

And as the when of minutes have passed
the nearness of your frame stills my all
and once more jangles the senses
Holds me yet again in its thrall
