Just look around

Just look around

When we were young and healthy without a single care
We only saw so little, the world was so  unfair
We knew it all by year sixteen
Disregarded, this and that everything between

We left those teenage years in the dust behind
We had to earn some money, endure the daily grind
Next we met  the special one and steal a little kiss
It’s wedding bells before you know and into married bliss

The children came, but in a flash are gone
Two of us again, not the family throng
This is when you notice things you did not see before
There’s beauty there, if you look, beyond your own front door

The golden glow of dawn’s sweet light
An owl that hoots in dark of night
The ocean blue and waves a plenty
Bluebells flowering, more than twenty

We climb and stand on mountains high
Admire the views that fill our eye
On the cliff in evening’s glow
Hear the waves on rocks below

Autumn light that comes and goes
Frost that nips our tiny toes
Winter storms bring rain and gales
Spray that stings like fifty nails

In the forest, in the park
The gentle song of soaring lark
By the harbour up on high
Wheeling gulls mournful cry

Swans and ducks glide quietly past
A heron perches on a mast
Then it rains next it’s sunny
The bee takes nectar makes the honey

We walk in meadows full of flowers
Admire the views from lofty towers
Fields of gold grow past our knees
Autumn leaves grace the trees

All you need to do is look
Flowing rivers, babbling brook
Lots of sights and lots of sound
There’s natural beauty all around

Tik Tok, Insta, Wikipedia
There’s more to life than social media
If you are ruled by ringing tone
Just get your face out yer phone

Enjoy the view on life’s sweet ride
You cannot do it when you’ve died
