January Sales
January Sales
The colour was quite gaudy, just right to lift my mood
Could just about afford it, if I did not buy food
Rather psychedelic, how it stood out from the rack
As I fondly gazed upon it, clad in wellies and a mac
Must really push the boat out, there was only cash to lose
Needed to compliment it, with handbag, hat and shoes.
It called to me, told sunny hours
Traipse thro’ meadows picking flowers
It beckoned me, it led me on, in seconds fifty years had gone
But back home tho’ my eyesight fails, that nasty mirror tells me tales
Folk who let themselves indulge, must expect their shape to bulge
Then it whispers in my ear…….. Don’t go near the sales next year
