It’s Good to Talk
We all rush around in our busy lives but, if you ever have a spare moment, please make time to talk. Your chat could be the only conversation somebody has today. Let’s help end loneliness ❤️
It’s Good to Talk
I chatted to an old man today
When I went out for a walk
He popped outside of his front door
And said he’d like to talk
He told me he was eighty-four
And how fast his life had flown
His eyes begged for my company
I could see he felt alone
We stood there, in the chilly breeze
I could see he didn’t mind
He just needed a friendly ear
To listen and be kind
“The older you get, the years rush past”
Is what he said to me
“When I was young, the years stretched long
Now they pass by so quickly”
He talked in depth of yesteryear
With his children and his wife
The kids now grown, in their own home
His late wife, she was his life
His years spent in the RAF
Recalling things that he had seen
His eyes danced in the merriment
Of precious times that once had been
He thanked me for my company
And he said it helped to talk
His days were long and lonely
A moment’s company he sought
