It Wasn’t Mine

It Wasn’t Mine

To produce something different
I thought I’d write a rap
Ripped up loads of paper
As all I writ was crap

Seeking inspiration
I very quickly strode
Heading up to Mankins
I trekked the Lumbutts road.

Soon I’d had enough
Detest puffin’ up the hills
Never fond of winter
With all its frosty chills

Decided it was better
To stroll beside the river
Though fingers were still frozen
And I began to shiver

Feeling overtaxed
I did a turnaround
Paused to recover breath
This is what I found

With nobody about
I was lonely as a cloud
Spied some yellow flowers
That stood erect and proud

Looked so very pretty
As they fluttered in the breeze
Hooray for inspiration
I would write of these

Home and by the fire
I got out my pen
Writing in my journal
I remembered then

I was not the only one
Who thought they looked divine
You see it had been done before
The idea wasn’t mine

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
