Individuality

Individuality

My paperweight is a compass
My guiding light is a star
I rarely kick up a rumpus
I’m much to calm by far

People I like for themselves
Regardless of colour or creed
A willingness to understand
Is all we really need

The things that do make me angry
Like personal meanness and spite
Are traits that no one should suffer
To be happy is everyone’s right

Freedom of thought and expression
Fought for through centuries by all
Must not be allowed to vanish
Or into the darkness we’ll fall
