Improvisation

Needing to go outside for the first time since March realised I had no hand gel so…

Improvisation

Well the shops were out of hand gel
And those online were pricey
Didn’t know where they came from
So the contents could be dicey

I rummaged through the cupboards
Sorted all the draws,
Nothing could found,
so clutching at last straws

I emptied out my handbag, from vacations long ago
I came across a bottle but it had no label so
The contents were not listed, nor was expiry date
Did it contain alcohol, which would help control my fate

So I had a little ponder, then I thought I ought
To top up with vodka as in Russia it was bought
So if it doesn’t kill them off, at least may make ‘em happy
Then they would not be harming me, and leave me feeling crappy.

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
