I accept I am different
I accept I am different
Don’t judge me by the markings on my skin
or my facial disfigurement, or because my legs are too thin…
or the bones in my spine and my hips are not right,
you can come a bit closer; I really won’t bite.
You know it really amazes me that people still stare,
it’s as if they’ve never seen anyone in a wheelchair
or lying on the floor in the middle of a fit,
I really don’t like it, one little bit.
I accept I am different to the way that you look
but do you judge the cover by what’s in the book!
I can accept that I look different to you,
but you need to accept the way I look too.
I know I am different on the outside,
but surely what matters, is what’s deep down inside;
because on the inside, I am really like you,
but I long for the day, that you see it too!
