Holocaust Memorial Day

Holocaust Memorial Day

The Holocaust was horrific
Man against his fellow man
Rumours, pointed fingers,
Is how it all began

Persecution hasn’t halted,
It is thriving still
If we don’t respect each other
Sadly it always will

They may not threaten you
But don’t merely bow your head
Keep quiet, tow the line,
Look the other way instead

Do not let racists get away
Challenge everything they say
Nor believe the lies that slip
Past their lips…..drip, drip, drip

Just like water on a stone
That’s how the seeds of hate are sown
So let’s stand up we’re all one race
No matter colour of your face

Religions just a lifestyle guide
Empathy should be worldwide
Extend kindness to each other
Show respect for one another

If we don’t, let me make it plain
It will happen …time and time again

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
