Hibernation
Hibernation
To endure another lockdown,
I have no inclination
So as the weather’s horrid,
I’m going into hibernation
After fluffing up the duvet,
In my bedroom I will stay
Don’t intend emerging,
Until spring is on its way
I shall not be hoarding,
A heap of nuts and berries
Rather stock up on red wine
Alongside some dry sherries
Acorns also fail to please
So substitute with crumbly cheese
Crackers must be crisp and snappy
Plus pickled onions to keep me happy
Some DVDs, a stack of books
Knitting needles, crochet hooks
My computer and a phone
Must contact friends….to have a moan
Of course I am aware I might
(If I nibble day and night)
Won’t emerge sleek like the bear
Alas I’ll have rolls of fat to spare
With weight piled on can I be sure
I’ll even squeeze back through the door.
