Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

How the years have flown!

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

1952, the year you became Queen.
November. I appeared on the scene.
February. Sorrowful. Dad must have comforted Mother
And one thing, it seems, led to another.

From then on our lives were linked,
A numbers game forever synced.
As the years go by thanks to you, dear Ma’am
I’ll never forget how old I am.

Like me you had to walk to run,
Like me youth’s obstacles to overcome.
Like me you blossomed and grew.
You won the World and still you do.

Solid, dependable, constant, true.
The fact is this: We all need you.
Stability like a guiding lamp.
One change? Your head upon a postage stamp.

You’ve been with me all through my life
From baby to toddler, from teenager to wife.
I admire the person you’ve become.
You’re so much like my own dear Mum.

A momentous year
And look at us – we’re both still here.
You’ve heard this said time and again:
Queen Elizabeth, Long May You Reign.
