Green diet!

Green diet!

” She’s feeding me grass like a farmer!
I ain’t had no chips for a week!
I know that the weather’s got warmer!
But I’m fading away as we speak!

She served me my tea as she does do,
I looked down to see what I’d got,
I had lettuce of green, with some cheese in between,
And some things that were little and `ot!

There was beetroot and pickle to savour,
And chutney was put on the plate,
There was also spring – onion (but they looked like a bunion)
And tomatoes, they were first rate!

I munched it and crunched it, it took me a while,
And said ‘thank you’,  well that’s what you do,
But she could see my dismay, as she cleared away,
And enquired of me, ‘Whats up with you?’

It’s the ‘greens that you’re giving me darling,
It really has just got to stop,
You don’t seem to notice while shopping,
Your husband is starting to hop!

Chips tomorrow! ( Yeah )

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
