Grandparents

Memories to cherish of times gone by.  Grandparents are just so special. How lucky are we who had the pleasure of knowing them. ❤️❤️

Grandparents

Memories came flooding back
As I saw her sitting there
A young girl with her Nanna
Such a special bond to share

Sat outside a café having breakfast
what a treat
Reminded me of yesteryear
when my Nan and I would meet

A warm embrace shone from her face
As she’d welcome me with glee
Such comfort from these memories
No better place I’d rather be

An Aladdin’s cave of childhood games
Lent for hours of fun
From frustration to monopoly
With dominoes my favourite one

And Grandad in his armchair
With his trusty wooden pipe
His snuff box never far from reach
I picture him with sheer delight

Day trips to the seaside
Or a saunter round the zoo
Embedded in my memories
Of special times I spent with you

And every time we parted
Into my tiny palm you’d smuggle
A crisp and gleaming one pound note
As I’d lean in for a cuddle

All that’s left are memories
Of the special times we shared
But my heart is filled with love and warmth
As I know how much you cared
