Goodbye Captain Tom
Goodbye Captain Tom
Many tributes today for Captain Tom
For his funeral was today.
A proud British veteran and gentleman
“Tomorrow will be a good day”
You certainly lived your life, your way
You said “I have no regrets”
You certainly were our hero.
So let us pay our respects,
Tens of millions of pounds he raised
Just when people needed hope.
He was resilience in his quest
His positivity showed around the globe.
You were ninety-nine years old
but determined to do your bit.
You walked 100 laps in 100days
YES, you certainly made it.
Your coffin was draped in a Union Jack
A flypast for you too
You never walk alone was sang
All for you, To say thank you.
Just eight family members attended
But many residents outside paid the respects
Red ribbons tied on lampposts
As you are laid to rest.
We are all so proud of you
So Goodbye Captain Tom
So many people are going to miss you
Let your message and spirit live on
