Gardener’s report!

Gardener’s report!

Thats it! I’m finished me radish is diminished,
Me onions are green and mouldy too,
Me ‘taters’? Like cotton, fluffy and gone rotten,
Me cabbage? Gone a funny shade of blue.

Me beans? Won’t flower, the sun ain’t got no power,
The rain is chucking down across the park,
Me carrots? They’re stumpy, all waterlogged and lumpy,
I think I’m gonna build a soddin ark.

Me roses? Soggy, flooded out and boggy,
Me rhubarb? Bent and busted just today,
Me lillies? Bending, this rain is never ending,
Bet I’ll have to throw them all away.

Me parsnips? Distorted,  need to get them sorted),
Me beetroot? Well that’s struggling again,
Me lawn? I’ll find out, (gotta wait until the tides out),
I’m so fed up of all this soddin rain!

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
