Freedom Foiled
Freedom Foiled
I’ll be retired four years this month time seems to have flown by
Enjoying doing what I want with no one questioning why
Spending the day in PJs watching my favourite shows
Or out lunching with girlfriends perhaps shopping for new clothes
Household chores are no longer a priority
A quick dust and vac is definitely ok by me
Sadly all this freedom has ended very recently
My husband decided to retire and spend more time with me
His day begins around seven every morning
Checks out the world news and weather affected by global warming
An enquiry is made if I’m laying in bed all day
Usually it’s about eight thirty by the way
Lists of odd jobs to be done are suddenly his obsession
I’m thinking maybe I should sign up for a salsa lesson
What’s for dinner he often asks before his breakfasts done
Since he got his new bbq his grills are second to none
New projects are discussed with the greatest intention
Meanwhile a pitcher of margaritas is definitely worth a mention
Going on lots of day trips have been a real life saver
Keeping him busy driving does both of us a favour
Hopefully we’ll settle down to a compatible routine
Or it’ll be more than golf balls he’ll be driving on the green
So ladies enjoy the freedom of retirement at your leisure
Then call your vintner for your continued health happiness and pleasure
