Entranced

Entranced

I saw an angel dancing,
I was held within her trance,
She hovered in the starlight,
Amid the beauty of her dance.

All silent but her heartbeat,
She reached into my soul,
And gave to me her wisdom,
But my heart had lost control.

I was lost in admiration,
Of the innocence portrayed,
The tears fell in abundance,
As the dance was now displayed.

I saw a World of purity,
A better World than mine,
Where hard words never trespassed,
On the beauty of the mime.

An angel held the Nation,
In the palm of her small hand,
She gave her silent message,
In the hope we would understand.

Yes, my love went with that angel,
And the silence of her flight,
The sweetest smile of youth and beauty,
Took my heart with her that night.

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
