Dream book

Dream book

Golden memories that we find, in the albums of our mind,
Treasured thoughts of family gone, hallowed dreams that linger on,
Special moments to enjoy, as your mind you do employ,
Happy times of long ago, hold them there, – don’t let them go.

Keep those thoughts of a splendid day, you all enjoyed, in your own way,
Days of pleasure, joy for all, days to treasure, and to recall,
All these are here, stored in your brain, dust them off, and look again,
Revisit these, and stay awhile, leave a memory, with a smile!

Never ever, let them go, these are yours, you made them so,
Store them safe, and hold them fast, keep that dream, and make it last,
Build a memory, every day, please don’t let one, slip away,
This is one book, you cannot fill, and in this life, – you never will !

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
