Don’t have to pretend
Don’t have to pretend
Not feeling the love
Then go for a walk
To clear my mind
Of those worrying thoughts.
Not on my own
With my four legged friend
He knows how I’m feeling
I don’t have to pretend.
A deep breath in
No need for talk
A lead and a smile
Time to walk.
We reach the path
At the top of the lake
A picture of beauty
Real and not fake.
A small fishing boat waits
It sways with the breeze
For its next captain
The odd trout, if you please.
The path leads us on
To the top of the wood
Trespasses will be prosecuted
But the views still good.
The lake still in sight
Through the trunks of the tree’s
Stop to look up
To see waving, green leaves.
Fallen pine cones
Waiting to be picked
Pot pourri or decoration
Or left to be kicked.
A couple of daffodils
Sway to and fro
Don’t ask how they got there
I really don’t know.
The odd fallen tree
Leans for support
In time of need
Had to be caught.
Turn back just to capture
The walk with my friend
Feeling the love
Don’t have to pretend.
