Difficult Decision
Difficult Decision
I wanted to be beautiful,
as dainty as can be,
Need folk admire my presence,
as I flit from flower to tree
I glanced into a dewdrop
whilst I devoured a leaf
My body was all hairy,
with many legs beneath
Face was green and dreadful,
‘twas such a nasty fright
I didn’t wish to show myself,
must stay out of the light
Have patience others told me,
Mother Nature has her way
Spin your cocoon quite carefully
as that it’s where you’ll stay.
When it is your time,
you’ll dry wings out to fly
But once you’ve laid your eggs,
sadly you must die
Do I want to trade longlivety
for beauty when I may
Stay here in my ugliness,
but live more than a day.
