Corona

Corona

Call me old fashioned, and I may have lost the plot
But why have they named a virus after vintage sparkly pop?
Dandelion and burdock, lemonade and lime
Those bottles of Corona tasted just divine.

We hung on to the bottles, we’d get some money back
5p for each bottle, we’d store them out the back.
We didn’t have much money, Corona was a treat
A bottle full of colour, so bubbly and so sweet.

Cherryade was glorious, fizzy and bright pink
Others said the orange used to be their favourite drink
I still can feel those bubbles as they burst inside my nose
And the stains would last forever if we spilt it on our clothes.

Now Corona is a virus, but those memories remain
We watch the chaos spreading across China and now Spain
Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could make this trouble stop,
With a glass of my old favourite, dandelion and burdock.
