Colours of my Life
Colours of my Life
When young and just burst from my bud
I was clothed in tender green
Clung to the bough with all my might
When buffered by the winds unseen
Scorched by relentless summer sun
Tempered by the cooling rain
I strove to keep my palest hue
Tho’ all my strivings were in vain
My colour now was deeper green
Changed, by all the things I’ve seen
Still I hold on so fierce, so strong
This is my bough, where I belong
October sees me at my best
In gold and scarlet shades I’m dressed
I feel lit up and in my prime
Alas I’ve soon outlived my time
So gently, gently I let go
One last dance, to the ground below
