Christmas Time, Feline Style

Christmas Time, Feline Style

The Christmas tree was magnificent, our fairy looked divine,
baubles hung on every branch, each one of them sublime.

Lights were carefully set in place, shimmering in the light,
tinsel wrapped around the base, twinkling there so bright.

A crackling fire now burning, flames flickering in the grate,
the lounge looked so inviting, with nothing second rate.

Our cat relaxed upon the couch, the room just looked superb,
with presents piled upon the floor, we left them undisturbed.

Such a warm and tender glow we felt as tonight was Christmas Eve.
What happened next was so bizarre, baffling to believe.

First the crash and then the flash, the house now cloaked in black.
we crept inside the darkened room, but the tree just forced us back!

With lights restored and power back we stood and looked aghast.
our fairy was in numerous bits the damage was just vast.

Our cat was washing casually with tinsel round his neck.
he sat and watched us salvage things, the room completely wrecked!

“What’s that noise?” we both declared. “The jingle of a sleigh?”
The cat looked up without a thought and mewed ‘it’s Christmas Day ‘!
