Christmas Eve
This beautiful poem was written by Irene Kerr …
Every day is a gift a present if you may
Yet Christmas Eve is special it’s magic some would say
Full of expectation happiness and joy
Reflected in the eyes of every girl and boy
Yuletide trees are trimmed and stockings hung with care
Festive food aromas permeate the air
Children gaze in wonder at the starry sky
Hoping to see old Santa and his reindeers flying by
Bearing gifts for children in his huge red sack
Anticipating milk and cookies for his mid flight snack
Soon it’s time to go to bed get tucked in nice and tight
Listen for that special sound of sleigh bells in the night
While congregations gather to give thanks to God and pray
For peace on earth good will to men on blessed Christmas Day
