The Brexit hokey pokey

I’m in the throes of writing another children’s book but there is nothing wrong with a little distraction on a cold February day.

The Brexit Hokey Pokey

(a little light-hearted look…or is it?)

You keep your country in; you pull your country out,
so you add a little backstop, what’s it all about?
You do the Brexit pokey and you stamp around,
That’s what’s all about…

Oh the Brexit hokey pokey, Oh the Bretix karaoke,
Oh the Brexit hokey pokey, in out, all about, blaa blaa blaa!

You take a Barnier, and a Tusk right there,
you add a little Juncker and a pile of great despair,
You’re heading to the deadline like a raging bear,
That’s what’s all about…

Oh the Brexit hokey pokey, Oh the Bretix karaoke,
Oh the Brexit hokey pokey, in out, all about, blaa blaa blaa!

Then you prod Reece-Mog, to give a monologue,
insert a little Corbyn to add his epilogue,
you bring in Arlene Foster to tear things down,
That’s what’s all about…

Oh the Brexit hokey pokey, Oh the Bretix karaoke,
Oh the Brexit hokey pokey, in out, all about, blaa blaa blaa!

With Theresa May and her final say,
it’s the deal upon table or Brits won’t play,
then sprinkle an extension and run away,
That’s what’s all about…

Oh the Brexit hokey pokey, oh the Bretix karaoke,
Oh the Brexit hokey pokey, in out, all about, blaa blaa blaa

With Boris in the wings and Nigel stirring things,
we’ll wait in trepidation as the deadline rings,
with a border looming closer and the tariffs for our sins
That’s what’s all about…

Oh the Brexit hokey pokey, oh the Bretix karaoke,
Oh the Brexit hokey pokey, in out, all about, blaa blaa blaa

Our nation’s now in lockdown as the politicians vote,
their trifling and tinkering to stay afloat,
as they offer all the citizens the antidote,
That’s what’s all about…

Oh the Brexit hokey pokey, oh the Bretix karaoke,
Oh the Brexit hokey pokey, in out, all about, blaa blaa blaa

Amen!
