Bonfire night’s gone barmy

I love ALL ANIMALS and I take no pleasure in ‘Bonfire night’. I see the constant nightly terror that my cat has to endure and I am mindful of the horses and cattle etc; who live outside among
this horrific loud nightly bombardment. – In my opinion, it is, quite simply, – CRUEL! – It should be curtailed.

No pleasure

Bonfire night’s gone barmy,
With the fireworks on the night,
Sounding like an army,
Filling animals with fright,
Cats will cower with fear now,
And dogs will tremble long,
Bonfire nights gone barmy,
It doesn’t now belong.

Bonfire night’s gone barmy,
We seem to be at war,
When huge explosions happen,
Outside your own front door,
Fireworks are too loud now,
And there is no delight,
When animals are fearful,
And running scared at night.

Bonfire night’s gone barmy,
It shouldn’t be allowed,
To torment loving pets here,
Like an insane madly crowd,
And older folk now fearful,
With dread to fill their mind,
For Bonfire nights’ gone barmy,
It is cruel and unkind.

Mick.

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
