April

April
What sweet delights will April bring?
A slow progression into spring,
A tendency to warmer days,
A sun with stronger warming rays.
An early morning now abound,
With all the joy of nature’s sound,
And daffodils and bluebells dance,
With all the pride of a new romance.
The hedgerow too will come to be,
A vision here for all to see,
As bursting leaves can all be seen,
In Britain’s, ‘Forty shades of green’.
This month the cuckoo comes to call,
Its haunting tune beguiles us all,
An idle bird who seeks to lay,
Then drive the builders all away.
Though early morning frosts still dare,
To leave an imprint everywhere,
We still can see the shower rain,
To bring the flowers life again.
So here it is, and time to see,
The land in its tranquility,
As life is born, by grace divine,
In Spring, and gentle April time!
