An Olive Branch for the World

With Remembrance Day almost upon us, wouldn’t this be wonderful:

An Olive Branch for the World

Our World, it needs an olive branch
To extend all hemispheres
To rid all lands of war and pain
And finally heal our fears

Through two World Wars and many more
Too many souls were lost
Lives taken when they’d just begun
They paid the ultimate cost

Mothers mourn their children, lost
Their futures snatched away
Soldiers forced to kill or die
Just to fight another day

Bright futures, yes, we all have dreams
But war, it does not care
It rips the joy from all our hearts
Leaving angst, fear, and despair

We thank you for your sacrifice
May it never be in vain
May the olive branch heal our wondrous world
And let all live in peace again
