Allegory
Allegory
So I had climbed a mountain
And I had reached the top
I had found contentment
I thought would never stop
But life upon that mountain
Was destined to be brief
I couldn’t see the future
That it would end in grief
For soon the mountain crumbled
And took with it my hopes
I stumbled, slipped and tumbled
All down the rocky slopes
But though the mountain vanished
Its shape is plain to see
The memories I made there
Will always stay with me
And though it may be different
My life will carry on
My memories come with me
And they will make me strong
I’ll build another mountain
A different one this time
And as I reach its rocky slopes
I know that I must climb
For I have climbed a mountain
And seen the starry sky
I know that love surrounds me
And love can never die.
