A Song of Life
A Song of Life
Music can thrum in your bones
Filling your world with song
Bringing a smile for all that is right
And bringing the tears for the wrong
I remember it well
How it instilled such wonder
Until the murder of my parents
Tore my world asunder
Now silent sings my heart
Lest I notice its tune
And I stand there alone
In the centre of the room
Amidst wallpaper tears
And the shadows that loom
And the cracks in the plaster
Like a festering wound
If I close my eyes and my mind
With an effort of will
All the songs of my youth
Whisper to me still
