A Magical Birthday
Just one of many poems I have written to my wonderful wife, Ruthy, over the years. Poetry to many of us is a kind of disease contracted early on in life and such that we try not to inflict too much on our friends and acquaintances – so here’s an easy going one.
A Magical Birthday
This is the day
when the sun
is creamy;
when the sea ripples
tirelessly,
playing with the
riotous pebbles –
in a gentle way.
This is the day
when the clouds
are fluffy
and the cheeky breeze
teases
your struggling curls.
This is the day
when the trees
sway joyfully,
tempting the leaves
to a rustling riot.
But wait…
here comes the moon,
and far too soon –
defying the rules
in a magical display;
what a magical day.
